Here you will find a brief summary of the organization; who we are, what we aim to achieve and how we plan to do it.
Educating Athletes looks to give underprivileged talented athletes the opportunity to be able to pursue their sporting goals without having to give up on their dream to complete their secondary education.
Educating Athletes is interested in seeing holistic development in the youth of South Africa.
It is for this reason that Educating Athletes assists talented youth to complete their education, as well as wanting to see these athletes’ character develop. The organisation achieves this by linking underprivileged talented athletes with individuals, families, businesses and/or companies who are able to sponsor that athlete’s education. Every term the athlete’s sponsor will receive a report of how the athlete is progressing in terms of their education, their sporting achievement and their character.
The organisation offers the athletes access to a mental skills program called The Edge: Mental Skills Coaching for Athletes. The Edge is a program that runs at other sporting academies across Cape Town and South Africa. This equips the athletes with skills necessary both off and on the field. Educating Athletes has a team of professionals who, having expertise in their respective fields, provide an overview and input on the three areas which an athlete requires in order to maintain their sponsorship; education, sport, and character.
